Mrs. Josephine Huffman Howerton
GIBSONVILLE — Mrs. Josephine Huffman Howerton, 85, of 6631 Bethel Church Road, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Alamance in Graham after one year of failing health.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Woodrow Wilson Howerton, and the daughter of Mr. William Robert Huffman and Mrs. Margaret Conlon Huffman, both deceased.
She was retired from Dixie-Bell in Gibsonville and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Mary H. Neese of Julian, Ms. Patricia A. “Patsy” Howerton of Gibsonville and Mrs. Nancy H. Spears of Graham; two sons, Lt. Col. John Wilson Howerton of U.S. Army, Guam, and Mr. James Edward Howerton of Gibsonville; a sister, Mrs. Margaret McKinney of Reidsville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ms. Jeanette H. Brown; and a brother, Mr. Vincent Huffman.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by the Rev. Bob Benko, associate pastor.
Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 Silver Cedar Court, P.O. Box 2636, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27515-2636.
