Patricia “Patsy” Ann Howerton, 72, of Gibsonville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025 after a lengthy health battle.
Patsy was born May 16, 1952 in Guilford County to Woodrow Wilson Howerton and Mary Josephine Huffman Howerton.
She worked for many years for the tax department of the IRS and developed many friendships with her coworkers there.
An active member of Brightwood Church, she enjoyed her ladies’ group and often ministered to others through cooking and inviting senior adults to her home for a meal. She loved to decorate for all the holidays, and would often handmake her decorations. Before her illness, she could usually be found working in her yard and growing beautiful flowers.
In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Jeanette Howerton Brown, and brother James Edward “Eddie” Howerton.
Patsy is survived by her brother, Ret. Lt. Col. John W. Howerton; sisters, Mary Howerton Neese and Nancy Howerton Spears; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Brightwood Church with Pastor Mark Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2 PM prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Brightwood Church, 300 Brightwood Church Road, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
