Billy Orion Clapp
LIBERTY, NC – Mr. Billy Orion Clapp, age 73, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell after several months of failing health.
A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Vance Lee Clapp and the late Willie Francis Gerringer Clapp and was married for 54 years to Mrs. Norma Mitchell Clapp, who survives. Billy was part owner of V.L. Clapp and Sons Septic Tank Systems for over 30 years until forming Orion Soil Consultants in 1994, which he operated until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Low’s Lutheran Church and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Clapp is survived by his wife of the home; his daughter, Kim Abbott and her husband, Scott, of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Alexa, Kelsey and Eli Abbott; five sisters, Linda (Lance) Miller, Carolyn (Glenn) Wimbish, Vangie Clapp, Bobbie Ann Euliss and Fran (Doug) Cook; four brothers, Wayne (Ann) Gerringer, Don Clapp, Edward “Ed” Clapp and Johnny (Sylvia) Clapp; and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jackie Clapp.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Low’s Lutheran Church by Pastor John Mark Beam III and Rev. Jimmy Wooten. Entombment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:45 PM Saturday prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
Mr. Clapp’s family would like to thank Hospice, especially his nurses, Vickey, Bonnie and Jeanette for their loving and compassionate care of Billy during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to Low’s Lutheran Church, 2136 NC Hwy 61, Liberty, NC 27298.
