Betty Tickle Haithcock

    GRAHAM — Betty Tickle Haithcock, 72, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Hospice at the Meadowlands following several months of failing health.

She was born September 25, 1937 in Alamance County to the late William Howard Tickle, Sr. and the late Hazel Woodlief Tickle.

    Betty was employed for several years with Waccamaw Pottery and in recent years she worked at New River Pottery.

She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Gibsonville. Betty was an avid Duke Fan, she enjoyed flower gardening and her life revolved around her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

    Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Loy and her husband, Joe, of Gibsonville, Sandra Payne and her husband, Linwood, of Graham; son, Richard “Ricky” Haithcock and his wife, Angela, of Whitsett; grandchildren, Joe (Kim) Loy Jr., Crystal (J.W.) Thompson, Courtney Payne and Brent Payne; great-grandson, Gavin Loy; sisters; Edna Haithcock and her husband, Basil, of Gibsonville, Janie Bennett of Gibsonville and Nancy Owen and her husband, Clarence, of Gibsonville; brother, Tommy Tickle and his wife, Janice, of Whitsett; sisters-in-law, Linda Tickle of Gibsonville and Linda Tickle of Snow Camp; former husband, Richard Haithcock, of Graham; and her faithful Chihuahua “Sassy.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Bobby and William Tickle.

    The family wants to thank Betty’s niece, Vickie Wood, and the nurses and staff of Hospice at the Meadowlands for their many acts of love and compassion.

    A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Mark Tope and burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Sandra Payne, 2116 Redwood Trail, Graham, N.C. 27253.

    Memorials may be made to Hospice at the Meadowlands, 1001 Corporate Drive, Hillsborough, N.C., 27278.
