YANCEYVILLE — Lena Rice Mahaley , 87, of 2547 Marshall Graves Road, died on Sunday, June 5, 2005, at White Oak Manor. She was a native of Caswell County and the daughter of the late James Franklin and Ossie Walker Massey Rice . She was the wife of the late Irving James Mahaley .
Lena retired after many years from Tower Hosiery Mills. She was a member of Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and greatgreat-grandmother.
Survivors include son, Melvin Mahaley of Yanceyville; daughters and son-in-law, Helen Starling of Graham and Nancy and Jimmy Teague of Elon; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant son, Arthur Mahaley and grandson, Darrell Teague.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Wallis Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
