Mamie King Simmons
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Mamie King Simmons, 92, of Burlington and formerly of Caswell County, died at the Hospice Home on Monday, February 8, 2016, at 8:25 p.m.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late William Roach Simmons Jr. and the daughter of Joseph Henry King and Eva Walker King, both deceased. Mamie was a retired textile employee. She was a member of Concord Christian Church where she had been very active in the church and the Women’s Fellowship. She was a former member of the Caswell Extension Homemaker’s Club and was well known for her cooking.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Simmons Brewer and husband Bobby of Yanceyville and Kathy Simmons McPherson and husband Tom of Pinehurst; three sisters, Louise King Matkins and Mary King Madden, both of Burlington and Rachel King Pope and husband Harry of Cedar Grove; four grandchildren, Brian Brewer and wife Elaine, Bart Brewer and wife Maggie, Richmond McPherson and wife Janet and Katherine Jones and husband Chad; and four greatgrandchildren, Eliza Brewer, Colton Brewer, Thomas McPherson IV and Turner McPherson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis King, Tom King and Wayne King.
The funeral service will be conducted at Concord Christian Church, 4904 Cherry Grove Road, Elon, NC on Friday, February 12, 2016, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Bruce Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m.
