George William Whitley
BURLINGTON — George William Whitley, 56, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Pansy Simpson Mansfield, who survives, and the late Garrie A. Whitley. He was employed for 16 years with Burlington Industries (Pioneer Plant) and most recently as a self-employed carpenter. Survivors other than his mother and her husband, Earl, both of Burlington, include two daughters, Mrs. Lisa Alcon and her husband, Barry, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Lori Watson and her husband, Ricky, both of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Carolyn Newman and her husband, Dane, both of Weaverville; a brother, David Whitley of Snow Camp; and six grandchildren, Matthew Alcon, Lauren Alcon, Leslie Alcon, Katy Watson, Whitley Watson and Erika Watson. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be in the fellowship hall after the service, and at other times at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Lisa Alcon, 2251 Stoney Creek Church Road, Burlington.
