REIDSVILLE — Mrs. Ruby Smith Allen, 62, of 3169 Grooms Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Pete Allen and the daughter of Mr. Roy Smith and Mrs. Ruth Butler Smith, both deceased. She had lived in the Williamsburg Community most of her life and was retired from Creighton.
Survivors include a son, Mr. Bruce Allen of Reidsville; a daughter, Mrs. Billy (Joyce) Swaney of Snow Camp; three sisters, Ms. Edith Arnold of Yanceyville, Ms. Margie Roach of Pleasant Garden and Ms. Nancy Gwynn of Elon College; four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Houston Smith; and two sisters, Ms. Louise Cook Edwards and Ms. Carol Tate.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Citty Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Wallis Smith. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
The family will be at Citty Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of the caregiver, Ms. Alice Faye Allen, 3169 Grooms Road.
