GRAHAM — Mrs. Joyce Allen Swaney, 49, of 3161 Preacher Holmes Road, Graham died at her residence on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 5 p.m. after a year and a half of declining health.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of Billy J. Swaney, who survives and the daughter of Charles Andrew Allen and Ruby Mae Smith Allen, both deceased. She was an employee of the Canteen Corporation. Mrs. Swaney attended Christ Memorial Christian Church and was a member of Relay for Life and Wings to Recovery.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Leslie Fields and husband Ronald, Ms. Brittany Robinson and Ms. Erika Eskew, all of Graham; three sons, Mr. Jason Swaney of Graham, Mr. Adam Swaney and wife Courtney of Snow Camp and Mr. B. J. McKinney and wife Meghann of Burlington; seven grandsons; one brother, Mr. Bruce Allen and wife Brenda of Reidsville; and a special aunt, Miss Alice Faye Allen of Reidsville.
The funeral service will be conducted at Christ Memorial Christian Church on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Stacey Hall. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church cemetery following the service.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Saturday from 4 until 6 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
