Mr. James Gray Coble
GRAHAM — Mr. James Gray Coble, 79, of 4570 Thompson Mill Road, died at noon Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Alamance Health Care Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Eva Simmons Coble, who survives, and the son of the late Walter T. Coble and Edna Thompson Coble. He retired from AT &T with 31 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church, where he was a former superintendent of the Sunday school, former choir member, and served on many other church committees. In his younger years he sang in a quartet.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. Ronnie Lynn Coble and wife, Mary Jane Austin Coble, of Danville, Va. and Mr. Larry Dean Coble and wife, Elizabeth Elliott Coble, of Graham; four grandchildren, Mrs. Jessica Coble Russell and husband, Ryan, and Miss Erica Coble, all of Graham, and Miss Heather Coble and Mr. Jason Coble, both of Danville, Va.; and many cousins and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dennis C. Peay, and the Rev. Dr. James L. Bryan. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
