Mr. John Urquhart Crutchfield

BURLINGTON — Mr. John Urquhart Crutchfield, 78, of 1814 S. Mebane St., Burlington, died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2001 at Alamance Health Care after two years of declining health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Norma “Tommie” Crutchfield and the son of the late Rev. G.C. Crutchfield and the late Cassie Ballard Crutchfield.

He was a member of St. John’s New Mission United Church of Christ and a part owner and sales manager of Arnold Oil Equipment. He was a World War II Army veteran and received the Purple Heart. He was also a member and former Master of Bula Masonic Lode, 32nd Degree Mason.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Denise C. Morton of Burlington and Mrs. Donna C. Carroll of Gibsonville; a son, Mr. John U. Crutchfield Jr. of Cary; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Norma C. Mallard.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, at St. John’s New Mission United Church of Christ by Dr. Glenn McNiel. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening and at other times at the residence.
