BURLINGTON — Mr. George W. Allen, 80, of 2223 Delaney Drive, Suite 2-211, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Hospice of Northern Virginia,
Arlington, Va.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Myrtle Stowe Allen, who survives, and the late Marjorie Kizziah Allen. He was the son of George Washington Allen Sr. and Claudia Elizabeth Clayton Allen, both deceased.

He was retired was the Western Electric Corp. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America at Western Electric. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and was active on the Trustee Board for many years. He was one of 18 children in the Allen family.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Sandra Allen Scott of Centreville, Va.; a son, Steve Allen and his wife, Susie, of Troy, Mich.; a brother, Luther Allen and wife, Marion, of Haw River; and two grandchildren, Stacie Allen and Geoffrey Allen.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington with the Rev. Richard Stanley, pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will be at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington one hour prior to the service.
