    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Myrtle  Stowe Allen , 85, of The Homeplace, Burlington died at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007.
    A native of Rockingham, N.C., she was the wife of the late George W. Allen  and the daughter of John Stowe and Mattie Grogan Stowe, both deceased. She was a retired beautician and cosmetologist from Classic Casual Beauty Shop. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include one stepdaughter, Mrs. Sandra A. Scott of Fairfax, Va.; one stepson, Mr. Steve Allen  of Raleigh; one brother, Mr. Thomas Stowe of Eden; two nieces, Mrs. Janet B. Cooke of Little River, S.C. and Mrs. Phyllis Ann Howard of McDough, Ga.; and one nephew, Mr. Avery L. Belton of Winston-Salem.
    She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Merritt, Mrs. Mildred Belton and Mrs. Beatrice McDougal; and one brother, Mr. Max Stowe.
    The funeral will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington today, Aug. 7, 2007, at noon by the Rev. Lee Pittard. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington today, Aug. 7, 2007, from 11 p.m. until noon.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 609 Trail Two, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
