Bobbie Mae Kernodle Massey, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024 at her residence.
She was born in Alamance County to the late Caffey Talmadge Kernodle and Elizabeth Cantrell Kernodle and was married for 68 years to the late John Henry Massey who passed away on February 21, 2024.
Bobbie was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.
She was formerly employed by May’s Hosiery and General Electric but her favorite job for over 18 years was working in the garden center at Lowe’s Home Improvement. Bobbie also loved gardening and working with her flowers at her home too. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who especially enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Johnny Massey, Jimmy Massey, Margaret Massey Dickey and husband Mike, Bobbie Ann Massey; grandchildren, Jonathan Massey and his wife Melissa, Preston Massey and his wife Samantha, Tommy Massey, Jessica Smith and her husband Caleb; great grandchildren, Jonathan Massey, Jr., Laila Massey, Tessa Mae Smith, Tallulah Jean Smith, Chris Tart and his wife Emily, Matthew and Michael Beagle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Annie Kate Hill and a brother, Gordon Storey Kernodle.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 10, 2024 at Bethlehem Christian Church by pastor Daren Ritchey with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and at other times at the home.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to all of Mrs. Massey’s caregivers and AuthoraCare Hospice for taking such good care of her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice, Burlington Campus, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
