Virginia Busick Smithey

March 7, 1928 - October 8, 2014

Browns Summit – Virginia Busick Smithey, 86, of Browns Summit passed from this earthly life to Life Everlasting on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 surrounded by her family.

She was born in Guilford County to the late Thomas Jefferson and Lillie Belle Chrismon Busick and was married to the late Loften Lambert Smithey.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Rodney Lambert Smithey.

She was a lifetime resident at her home in Browns Summit and a lifetime member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Lewis (Dace) of Burlington; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Smithey of Browns Summit; grandchildren, Angel L. Stutts (Randy), Dace A. Lewis III (Chevola), Gabriel S. Smithey (Robin), Andrea H. Smithey (Bri Sapp); great grandchildren, Allison, Ashley and Lee Stutts, Decimus and Alik Lewis, and Chase Smithey; sister, Ann Oliver; brother, Leo Busick and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Ourelia Hogan, Nellie Andrews, Joyce Busick, Deuel Busick, Alvin "Tar" Busick and Ruby Brown.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Apple's Chapel Christian Church by Rev. Dave Johnson, Rev. C. Allen Myers III and Dr. Dace A. Lewis, Jr. with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at Apple's Chapel Christian Church and other times at the residence.

The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to doctors, nurses and staff at Moses Cone for taking such good care of Mrs. Smithey. Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Smithey family.
