Leo Thomas Busick

Leo Thomas Busick, 101, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on October 21, 1922 in Guilford County to the late Jack Thomas Busick and Lillie Chrismon Busick.

Leo was the husband of 77 years to the late Vannie Irene Baldwin Busick who died in April 2021.

 Leo was a retired farmer who enjoyed being outdoors, a hard worker, a provider for his family and was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was a faithful husband, a devoted father, a loving grandfather, and a grateful great grandfather and great great grandfather.

Leo was the oldest member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church where he was a member of the Helping Hands Sunday School Class. In times past, he and Vannie were in charge of the youth at the church. Leo served on numerous committees from being a former Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, a Deacon, Men’s Chorus, on the Mission Board and the Cemetery Board.

 He is survived by his four children, Becky May and husband Ronald, Thomas Busick, Terry Busick and wife Patricia, Linda Sue Richtarik and husband John; ten grandchildren, Michelle Young (Chip), Wendy Foster, Amy Turner (Jesse), Crystal Church (Ryan), Brian Busick (Brandy), Josh Busick, Damien Busick, Kim Richtarik, John Richtarik (Jamie), and Ashley Anderson (Donny); sixteen great grandchildren, Delaney, Dylan, Lauren, Lindsey, June, Austin, Caleb, Jude, Gideon, Levi, Jenna, Emma, Jade, Carson, Aliyah and Josie; three great great grandchildren, Roman Wagoner, Salem Wagoner and Rosalie Bonomo; a sister-in-law, Mona Busick; and several nieces and nephews.

 Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Vannie Busick; parents, Jack and Lillie Busick; a son, Timothy Lane Busick; a great granddaughter, Taylor Dawn Foster; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joyce and Lillie Busick, Deuel and Frances Busick and Marvis Busick; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Nellie and Howard Andrews, Ourelia and Carston Hogan, Ruby and Jack Brown, Ann and Tom Oliver, Virginia and Loftin Smithey.

 The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all of Leo’s family members, friends, neighbors, and Hospice staff, for all their help, loving support and care that was shown to Leo during his illness, and to the wonderful support that was shown to the family.

 A service to celebrate Leo’s life will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church by Rev. Dave Johnson and Rev. Allen Myers, with the interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45pm Wednesday at the church prior to the service and other times at the residence. You may also view and pay your respects on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory from 12 noon to 5pm.
