Mrs. Virginia Skenes Honeycutt 


    GREENSBORO — Mrs. Virginia Skenes Honeycutt , 83, of McLeansville, went to meet her Savior surrounded by her family Monday, January 14, 2008, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
    The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Forbis & Dick, North Elm Street Chapel. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Bill Skenes  and the Rev. Allen Myers III. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
    Mrs. Honeycutt  was born February 3, 1924, in Alamance County, N.C., to the late John F. Skenes  and Mildred York Skenes . She was a member of Cornestone Baptist Church in Whitsett. Mrs. Honeycutt  was the owner and operator of Town & Country Curb Market in McLeansville. She also worked at Moses Cone Hospital Snack Bar and Lorillard Corporation. Most of all, she cared for her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
    She is survived by six children, daughters, Peggy Hodgin and husband, Stan Sr., of Gibsonville, Becky Brown and husband, Monroe, of Climax; sons, Wayne Honeycutt  and wife, Gayle, of Greensboro, Kenny Honeycutt  and wife, Linda, of Mc-Leansville, Mikie Honeycutt  and wife, Lu-Anne, of Greensboro, Ron Honeycutt  and wife, Frances, of Greensboro; brothers, the Rev. John F. Skenes  and wife, Lena, the Rev. Bill Skenes , George Skenes  and wife, Judy; and sister, Shelby Hill and husband, Jerry, all of Burlington. Virginia  was also blessed with nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by one brother; and four sisters.
    The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street, and at other times at the home of Mikie and LuAnne Honeycutt , 5305 Bancroft Road, Greensboro.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27405.
