Mrs. Mildred Jeanette Skenes Roten
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Mildred Jeanette Skenes Roten, 66, of 2342 Durham St., died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at her residence after one year of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Coy Roten, who survives, and the daughter of the late John and Mildred Skenes. She was employed with ECI and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include six daughters, Bonnie (Ronald) Norman of Kernersville, Jean McDavid of High Point, Mandy (Randy) Clayton of Walkertown, Barbara (Joe) Davis of Elon, and JoAnn Lovell and Martha Edwards, both of Mount Airy; five sons, Ricky (Sherry) Overman, Bo (Allison) Overman, and Randy Roten, all of Snow Camp, Charlie (Stephanie) Overman of Gibsonville, and Tony (Tammy) Roten of Burlington; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Honeycutt of Greensboro and Shelby Hill of Burlington; and three brothers, the Rev. John Skenes, the Rev. Bill Skenes, and George Skenes, all of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucy Simpson, Kathleen Perry, and Marie Cameron; and a brother, Richard Skenes.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Vickers Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. John Skenes, pastor, and the Rev. Bill Skenes, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Vickers Memorial Baptist Church in Belmont from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
