Mrs. Juanita Pettigrew Wood
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Juanita Pettigrew Wood, 75, resident of 1907
Apt.-O, N. Centennial St., went to be with her Lord on March 27, 2002,
at the High Point Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Wood was born January 16, 1927 in Shelby, N.C. to late Lawrence
Pettigrew and Oda Thomas Pettigrew. Over the years she had worked
with Pilot Life, Trans World Radio, and retired as a school secretary
with the Greensboro Public Schools. She was a longtime member of
Rolling Roads Church of the Nazarene in Greensboro and later a
member of First Wesleyan Church in High Point. While at First
Wesleyan she led one of their care groups for close to 10 years and
was a member of the Mary Carson Sunday School class. On January
25, 1947 she married John S. (Jack) Wood who survives, of the
residence.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carol Thompson and husband,
Mike, of Gibsonville, Mrs. Marsha Gray and husband, Tom, of
Greensboro; one son, Mr. Darryl Wood and wife, Beth, of Nashville,
TN.; three grandchildren, Crystal Cole and husband, Tommy, of Elon,
Nicole and Taylor Wood of Nashville; three great-grandchildren,
Bethany, Chelsea, and Alex of Elon; one sister, Sylvia DeLancey of
McLeansville; two brothers, Paron Pettigrew of Seattle, Washington
and Paul Pettigrew of Reidsville. In addition to her parents she was
preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Pettigrew and Flonie Riley;
two brothers, Floyd Pettigrew and Ernest Pettigrew.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Wesleyan
Church by Dr. Aron P. Willis, Rev. Scott Weldon and Rev. James Smith.
Interment will follow at Westminister Gardens in Greensboro. Visitation
will be from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High
Point Friday night and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Wesleyan
Church Building Fund for Future Generations, 1915 N. Centennial St.,
