BURLINGTON - Anne Sullivan Kernodle, 83, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who brought joy to others through selfless acts of kindness, from baking to running errands to sharing encouraging words.
Anne's Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date due to the current health crisis. However, she will be available for viewing from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
A native of Tarrytown, New York, she was the daughter of the late Leo Lawrence and Marion Caulfield Sullivan, and the wife of the late Gordon Storey Kernodle.
Anne retired from Glen Raven Mills after over 30 years of service as part of the maintenance division, and was a dedicated volunteer in the Gift Shop at ARMC for 15 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Kernodle Maue & husband Rob Maue; son Robert Kernodle & wife Anja Kernodle; and son Dennis Kernodle & wife Lynn Kernodle.
Her cherished grandchildren include Elizabeth Kernodle, Neil Kernodle & wife Sara Kernodle, Amy Kernodle, Robbie Kernodle, Sandra-Anne Kernodle, Kayla Maue, Devon Maue, Aiden Maue, Keira Maue and Summer Kernodle.
She was preceded in death by her son Gordon Talmage Kernodle and granddaughter Gracie Lynn Kernodle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Hospital, which Anne generously supported. 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.

Mr. Gordon Storey Kernodle
BURLINGTON — Mr. Gordon Storey Kernodle, 65, of 1735 Birchwood Dr., passed away Wednesday July 17, 2002 at his home following 5 years declining health.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Anne Sullivan Kernodle and son of the late Caffey Talmage and Elizabeth Cantrell Kernodle.
Mr. Kernodle was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, a retired truck driver and lifetime farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Sullivan Kernodle of the home; 3 sons, Gordon Talmage Kernodle and his wife Jennifer of Burlington, Robert Allen Kernodle and his wife Tonia of Lexington and Dennis Michael Kernodle and his wife Lynn of Gibsonville; 1 daughter, Mrs. Susan Kernodle Maue, PhD and her husband Rob of Clearwater, FL; 5 grandchildren, Talmage Neil Kernodle, Robert Gordon Kernodle, Elizabeth Blake Kernodle, Sandra-Anne Lillian Kernodle and Kayla Marie Maue; 2 sisters, Mrs. Annie Kate Hill and Mrs. Bobbie Massey both of Burlington.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday July 19, 2002 at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Dave Gilbert, pastor of the church.
Interment will follow in Bethlehem Church Cemetery.
Mr. Kernodle will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Thursday. At other times at the residence. [14614]
