Henry Graham Chandler
BURLINGTON — Henry Graham Chandler, 75, of 338 McCray Road, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Edgewood Place in Burlington after one year of failing health.
Mr. Chandler was a member of Union Ridge United Church of Christ, where he taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. He was also a former chairman of the deacon board, former member of the official board, and served on many other committees within the church. He was also formerly on the board of directors of the North Central Fire Department. He was a retired salesman with Royster Fertilizer Company and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Becky Marie (Dean) Whitlow of Easley, S.C.; a son, Henry Arthur (Loraine) Chandler of Burlington; two grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth Whitlow; a sister, Mrs. Ann (Bobby) Leath of Burlington; and a brother, Franklin (Betsy) Chandler of Elon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Rascoe Chandler; and his parents, Henry Harvey and Edna Graham Chandler.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Union Ridge United Church of Christ by the Rev. Phil Hardy, pastor, and the Rev. John Settlemyre. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home of the son, Henry Chandler, 515 Lewis Graham Road, Burlington.
