Mrs. Mary Logan Russell Dale
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Mary Logan Russell Dale, affectionately known as “Mary Dale”, 68, of 3360 Belmont-Mt. Hermon Road, died at 8:10 AM Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at her home, following a brave fight with cancer. Mary was a graduate of E.M. Holt High School and was employed by Kayser Roth in her early years of marriage. She later worked at American Jenbach. Mary and her husband Rufus ran R.J. Dale’s County Store on Belmont-Mt. Hermon Rd. from 1968 to 1975. She was best known for her work in later life as a “sitter” for the elderly and sick A member of Riverside Baptist Church, Mary, was formerly a choir member, assistant treasurer, and a Sunday School teacher of the Ladies Bible Class for over 20 years until last fall. Surviving is her husband, Rufus Dale of the home; three children, Janice Dale Pope and husband T. Brad Pope of Raleigh, Russell Dale and wife, Linda Dale of Burlington and Lisa Dale Wetzel and husband Harold Wetzel, Jr. of Raleigh; grandchildren, Gerald Pope, John Pope and wife, Jennifer, and Dale Pope of Raleigh; Ben, Erin and Michael Wetzel of Raleigh and Matthew, Sydnie and Jacob Dale of Burlington; 2 brothers, Sidney Lee Russell, Jr. of Burlington and John Michael Russell, Sr. of Snow Camp. She was preceded in death by her parents Sidney Lee and Emma Herndon Russell and one grandchild, Joshua Dale. Interment services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church cemetery for family and friends. A Memorial Celebration Service will be a 2:00 PM Friday at Riverside Baptist Church in Graham, conducted by Rev. Curtis Oakley, pastor emeritus of the church. The family will be available for visitation at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 6-8 PM Thursday. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell; P.O.
