WATER VALLEY – R.E. “Dick” Gibbs, 91, died Saturday, July 5, 2003. He was born March 20, 1912, in Lexington, N.C. He was a retired employee of the J.C. Penney Company with 40 years of service. He was a member of Oakland Methodist Church, East Memphis Exchange Club and Billy's Creek Water Association, and a two-year member of the board of FHA.
He was preceeded in death by his wife Margarette B Gibbs (#113164199)
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with the Rev. Clay Baker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Memphis.
Survivors include a son, Richard Ellis Gibbs Jr. of Memphis; a brother, Royce Gibbs (#49188519) of Newport News, Va. and grand children Richard E. Gibbs, III of Huntsville, AL and Thomas Gibbs of Maryville, TN; grenddaughter Lea Lunsford of Maryville, TN 470, Richard Ellis “Dick” Gibbs Sr.
