BURLINGTON — Mrs. Shirley Hughes Brooks, 76, of Union Ridge Road, Burlington, went to her eternal home in heaven on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 4:24 p.m. at Liberty Commons, following several years of declining health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late John W. “Jake” Brooks, Jr. and the daughter of George Thomas “Tommy” Hughes and Marjorie Kernodle Hughes, both deceased.
Shirley was a member of Union Ridge Christian Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Kami Brooks Hardy and husband Jay of Burlington; son, Mr. Kim H. Brooks and wife Laraie of Mebane; and three grandchildren, Wesley Hardy, Jachob Brooks and Ginny Brooks.
The funeral service will be conducted at Union Ridge Christian Church on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Dan Ficklin, the Rev. James L. Rosser and Pastor Mark Mitchell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Fellowship
Hall of Union Ridge Christian Church on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Kami Hardy, 4115 Union Ridge Road, Burlington, N.C.
