VERNON NORMAN OBITUARY
GREENSBORO - Vernon "Rob" Roberts Norman, 54, died Saturday, June 6, 2009.
There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 11 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3091 Forest Lawn Dr. Greensboro, NC 27408.
He was born December 19, 1954 in Guilford County to George and Hilda (Roberts) Norman Jr. Rob graduated from Woodberry Forest School in 1973 and graduated from NC State with a BS degree in electrical engineering and MS in computer engineering in 1979. Rob worked at IBM for 30 years and served as a Senior Technical staff member.
Rob is preceded in death by his father, George E. Norman Jr.
Rob is survived by his wife of 29 years, Carol Norman of Cary; two sons, Stewart Norman and his fiancé, Amanda Foskey of Durham, N.C., Robert E. Norman of Raleigh, N.C.; mother, Hoolie Norman of Greensboro, N.C.; brothers, Dean Norman and wife Laura of Greensboro, George Norman III and wife Cathy of Seven Lakes, N.C.; sister, Lane Harris of Bozeman, Mont.; nieces Dee Norman, Sally Norman, Graham H. Curry; nephews Dean Norman Jr., Frank Duncan, Jim Harris.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodberry Forest School, Woodberry Forest, VA 22989 and the , Memorials and Tributes Process Center, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
