CHAPEL HILL — Mrs. Marla Covington Jones, 53, of 17 South Circle Drive, Chapel Hill, and formerly of Burlington, died at her residence on Friday, August 22, 2008, following an extended illness.
Born in Osaka, Japan, she was the wife of Larry V. Jones, who survives, and the daughter of John Covington and Dorothy Lynette Mills Wilson, both deceased.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include one son, Mr. James B. Jones of the home; one sister, Mrs. Shelia Whittington of Greensboro; three brothers, Mr. Dexter Covington and wife, Jan, of Mebane, Mr. William "Bill" Covington and wife, Sue, of Graham, and Mr. Allen "Gene" Wilson Jr. and wife, Karen, of Lexington, S.C.; and a stepfather, Mr. Allen E. Wilson of Burlington.
A memorial service will be conducted by Mr. Gene Wilson at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 2 p.m.
The family will be at the residence.
