Irene Mills Jarrett
MEBANE — Mrs. Irene Mills Jarrett, 95, formerly of Miles Chapel Road, Mebane died at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at 4:20 a.m.
A native of Pittsylvania County, VA, she was the wife of the late Bernard Vaughn Jarrett Sr. and the daughter of William Edward Mills and Sallie Johnson Mills, both deceased. She retired from Tower Hosiery and was a former member of the Emma Harris Garden Club. Irene was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and the Gold Star Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary J. Whitley and husband Paul of Burlington and Linda J. Haynes and husband Gary of Lewisville, NC; son, B. Vaughn Jarrett Jr. and wife Dottie of Mebane; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol “Ann” J. Painter and her husband Don; granddaughter, Tammy Dix Scott; great-granddaughter, Tamara Willis; three sisters, Vesta M. Bristow, Lynette M. Wilson and Lillie M. Walker; and two brothers, Forest Mills and Otwell Mills.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. by Dr.
J. Mark Aheron. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of the son, Vaughn Jarrett Jr., 2914 Jones Drive, Mebane, NC.
