Martin Leon "Buck" Loy Sr.
    BURLINGTON — Martin Leon "Buck" Loy Sr., 79, of 237 S. Gurney Street, died on Monday, August 23, 2004, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Alamance County, and the son of the late William Ervin and Bettie Ann Westmoreland Loy.
    Leon was a Charter Member of Faith Bible Chapel, where he had served as both a Deacon and Trustee. He attended Elon High School and took early retirement from Western Electric in Burlington due to his health. Leon was a optimistic person giving testimony of his faith in the Lord. Even though he struggled with physical limitations he began his own wood-cutting business, providing wood for local restaurants including Hursey’s Bar-B-Q. Leon was an avid sportsman including hunting, fishing and Duke basketball. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
    Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Martin Leon "Marty" Loy, Jr. and his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Loy, of Apex, N.C.; grandsons, Brandon Martin Loy and Cameron Bennett Loy; brothers, Franklin Ervin Loy, Keith Barrett Loy and William Ervin "Bill" Loy, Jr all of Burlington and Dewey Leige Loy of Paulsboro, New Jersey; sisters, Josie Myrtle Loy and Catherine Leola Loy, both of Burlington.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Hough Loy; parents; brothers, John William Howard Loy, Eugene Clarence Loy, Oscar Monroe Freeman Loy and Manual Durward Loy; sisters, Ruth Beatrice Loy and Janice Madge Loy Newman.
    The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Mark Robertson, and the burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Elon. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will be at the home at other times. 3
