Margaret Rumley Saul Beckom
BURLINGTON — Margaret Rumley Saul Beckom, 91, joined her Heavenly Father, her parents, and brothers and sisters in Heaven on August 31, 2013. Margaret was a loving, beautiful wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years O.T., daughter Pam Beckom Prichard and husband Terry. She was preceded in death by her fi rst husband, Staff Sgt. Jesse Willard Saul, who was killed in World War II; her parents, Walter Lee Rumley and Nancy Brooks Rumley; sisters, Lelia Massey, Ima Griffi n, Ruth Hardy, Ora Rumley and Evelyn Conklin; and brothers, Fred Rumley, Richard Rumley, Johnny Rumley, Henry Rumley and Walter Lee Rumley Jr.
Margaret retired from the Alamance-Burlington Schools in school food service. She worked at A.O. Elementary and Western Middle for many years. She loved children and enjoyed being with the students. Margaret loved to cook for others and she was known for her chicken pies at the annual Rumley Christmas Dinner.
She always had time for her family and friends. A special thank you to Advanced Home Care and her caregiver Joyce Neal for all their loving care during her illness. Margaret was a member of Bethel Methodist Church in Burlington and faithfully served her church family for many years. The celebration of Margaret’s life will be conducted at the Lowe Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. by Dr. Terry Prichard and the Rev. Stuart Crank, pastor of Bethel Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington this evening from 5-7 p.m. Other times, they will be at the home which O.T. and Margaret shared on Burch Bridge Road, Burlington. In lieu of fl owers donations can be made to Bethel Methodist Church, 1421 Bethel Methodist Church Road, Burlington, NC 27217 or to the charity of their choice.

Staff Sergeant Saul, Jessie Willard husband of Mrs. Margaret Rumley Saul and son of Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Saul of Altamahaw was killed in action on December 4, 1944.
He had served in the Army since November 1942, but had only been overseas for 4 months at the time of his death.
Memorial services were held at Bethlehem Christian Church in April 1945 for Sgt. Saul.

Oscar "O.T." Thomas Beckom
AUGUST 9, 1922 ~ APRIL 30, 2019 (AGE 96)
Burlington-Oscar Thomas “O.T.” Beckom, 96, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Homeplace. O.T. was a loving husband of 65 years to the late Margaret Rumley Beckom.
O.T. retired from Glen Raven Mills after 45 years. He was a proud American serving in the US Army company F 414th Infantry, Timberwolf Division with the Night Fighters during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the Bronze Star as well as other commendations. O. T. loved helping others throughout his life and was a loving and devoted husband and daddy. He enjoyed his garden, yard sales, refinishing and collecting antiques, fishing at the coast and making boxes for Iseley Farms during strawberry season. O.T. never met a stranger and loved to fellowship and laugh. He was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church and faithfully served his church and the Boy Scout troop at Bethel.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Beckom Prichard and son-in-law, Terry Prichard; brother, John Dee Beckom and wife, Martha as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; great great nieces and nephews, cousins and other special family members and friends. He also left behind his precious companion Miss Kitty Cat. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, T. O. Beckom and Juanita Sutton Beckom; brother, Conard Beckom and sisters, Betty Nell Satterfield and Bernice Cantrell.
A special thank you to Cheryl Tate and Natalie Fogleman for the love and care you showed dad and the entire family. Also a special thank you to Bonnie and the wonderful staff at Homeplace and Rusty and staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance/Caswell who took great care of daddy. O.T. asked for no floral tributes at his service but that the flag of his country he bravely served under be front and center,
