Margie Brown Rumley
BROWNS SUMMIT — Margie Brown Rumley , age 72, of 5852 Turner Smith Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was a native of Guilford County and the wife of 56 years to Donald Eugene Rumley who survives.
Margie was a homemaker and member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Margie enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. She was known as an exceptional cook and she was a connoisseur of antique furniture.
Survivors include her husband of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Rumley Honeycutt of Elon, Kathy Rumley Keck and her husband, Jerry M. of Gibsonville, Robin Rumley Woods and her husband, Craig of Elon; grandchildren, Shawn Vaughn, Heather Keck Foxx and her husband, Bryan, Kristopher Honeycutt and Brooks Honeycutt; great-grandson, Jalen Foxx; sisters and brothers-inlaw, Shirley B. Jones of Greensboro, Peggy B. Steele and her husband, James of Boones Mill, Virginia, Patricia B. French and her husband, Elmer of Ruffin, N.C.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen M. Brown of Southport, N.C., Albert Gene Brown and his wife, Geraldine of Gibsonville, Bobby Brown and his wife, Linda of Browns Summit and Randy Brown and his wife, Jane of Gibsonville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Jackson Brown and Ruby Busick Brown.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. C. Allen Myers III, officiating and assisted by the Rev. James Cain and the Rev. Tommy Richardson. The committal service will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
The family of Margie Rumley wishes to express their deep appreciation for the many acts of kindness by Margie’s sister, Pat French, her sister-in-law, Geraldine Brown and the local community. The family also wants to thank Dr. Sean Murphy, Tracey and Debbie of Salem Chest Specialists Winston-Salem and the eighth floor staff employees of Forsyth Medical Center for their compassion and care for Margie during her recent illness.
