Judith Van Walker Hayes
September 26, 1940 ~ January 4, 2024 (age 83)

Judith Van Walker Hayes, passed Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the hospice home with her family beside her.

She was the wife of Thomas Webb Hayes of Graham and daughter of the late Joseph Ebb Walker and Sybil Perry Walker.

Judy was a native of Graham,and was in the class of 1958 at Graham High School.

She was married to her husband Tommy for 65 years. Judy was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Graham, she took on many roles over the years serving her church from Sunday school teacher to being on the play school committee and working in the nursery and being part of the Gordon Painter Sunday school class and Circle number 2. She worked 50 plus years banking mostly at Graham Savings loan, CCB, Community Bank and a few others. The most rewarding job was being a wife and mother. She was a true example of a lady who showed southern hospitality. She loved to take care of her home and family, enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening. And she was extra special at being a grandmother.

She is survived by her husband Tommy of the home, daughters, Patricia Hayes Walker, Leigh Ann Hayes; grandchildren, Joseph Walker, Emily Walker Currie and her husband Jody Currie; great grandchildren, Juliette Walker, Izzabella “Izzy” Walker, Rebecca Currie and Natalie Currie; brother Lance Barry Walker; many nieces and nephew’s aunts and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Kent Walker and Greg Walker.

The Funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Graham at 12:00 pm on Monday, January 29, 2024. The family will receive friends at the church Monday, at 10:30 to 11.:45 am before the service. The burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery on PineStreet in Graham.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
