Frances Huffines Stutts, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Mebane Ridge Assisted Living.

She was born on April 1, 1933 in Alamance County to the late Charlie Kiser Huffines and Lelia Mae Hall Huffines.

Frances touched the lives of those around her with her unwavering love and devotion to her family.

Frances dedicated over thirty years to the textile industry, working at Glen Raven Mills, May Hosiery, and Browns Hosiery. She not only excelled in her professional life but also shared her skills and values alongside her late husband, Edgar in his construction company. Their partnership was a testament to their love and commitment to each other.
A great cook, she delighted in creating delicious homemade chocolate pies, velvety red velvet cakes, and an array of homemade candies she joyfully gave away. Frances also had a heart of gold, often sharing fresh vegetables from her garden with neighbors and friends. Her love for planting flowers and tending to her garden brought her immense joy, and this passion mirrored the love she had within her family.

Frances is survived by her loving daughters, Bernice Newsome and her husband Michael, Deborah Lynn Morene, and Carolyn Frances Morene; her grandchildren that she adored, Christopher Henry Newsome and his wife Elizabeth, and Ashley Nicole Newsome and her husband Joe, as well as great-grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth Newsome and Henry Pierce Newsome, who brought her immense joy and pride. Her sisters, Helen Hensley and her husband Bobby, Doris Ward and her husband Ronnie and Lala Dameron and her husband Al, along with several nieces and nephews.

She has now been reunited with her parents; her first husband, Henry Hardy Morene who died in 1967 and her second husband of fifty-six years, Edgar Franklin Stutts who died in July 2025; her son, Donald "Donnie" Ray Morene; a sister, Ann Brown; and her brothers, Banks Huffines, Billy Huffines and Arnold Huffines.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Bethel Memorial Cemetery by Pastor Reid Dickens. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:30pm Wednesday prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
