ELON COLLEGE - Mrs. Lucy Jarrett Hensley, 96, of 2551 Bridgeview Road, died at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at her home after an illness of one month.

A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Jesse Banner Hensley and the daughter of Mr. Samuel Pickney Jarrett and Mrs. Della Blankenship Jarrett, both deceased. She was a homemaker and attended Altamahaw Baptist Church. She was a Real Daughter of The Confederacy State of the Virginia Division, Company A.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Opal Lane and Mrs. Hilda Cox, both of Burlington, Mrs. Judith Cannady of Erwin and Mrs. Suellen Cox of Gibsonville; four sons, Mr. Howard Hensley, Mr. Robert "Bobby" Hensley, Mr. David P. Hensley and Mr. Charles "Zip" Hensley, all of Elon College; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. J.B. Hensley.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Felton Massey, the Rev. Tommy Gregory and the Rev. Steven Hicks. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family will be at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
