Hazel Lyles Russell


    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Hazel Lyles Russell of Liberty Commons, formerly of Country Club Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 12, 2008.
    The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 415 South Church Street, Burlington. She was a member of the First Christian Church for over 50 years. She was retired from Sears Roebuck Company after 30 years. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Robert Stephenson. Interment will follow at Willow Valley Cemetery in Mooresville, N.C. at 3 p.m.
    Hazel Lyles Russell was born in Mooresville, N.C. She was the wife of the late William Marvin Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Malen Nathan Lyles and Carrie Caskey Lyles; sister, Miss Pauline Lyles; and brothers, Mr. Troy Lyles and Olin Lyles, all of Mooresville.
    She is survived by two daughters, Ms. Nancy Ann Russell of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Sandra (William) Rice of Burlington; one son, Mr. David Scott Russell of Gulfport, Miss.; two grandchildren, Debra Sykes Robertson of Graham, N.C. and Sgt. Major Christopher Rice of Cedar Point, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Catherine Davis of Mooresville, N.C.
    Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the First Christian Church.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Christian Church, 415 South Church Street, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
