Betty Cook Mooneyham
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Betty Cook Mooneyham, 78, died at the Hospice Home on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 3:50 a.m., following several years of declining health.
A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of Weldon Cook and Alice Donivant Cook, both deceased. She was a retired employee of the Alamance County Department of Social Services. Betty was a charter member of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. She had a passion for painting and a love for the outdoors.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Mooneyham and fiancé Michael Hunt of Graham and Amy Gilmore and husband Tommy of Burlington; son, Brian Mooneyham and wife Jackie of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Kalli Gilmore, Meredith Gilmore, Braden Mooneyham, Christopher Wiggs and Meghan Wiggs; sister, Jean Carver and husband Dennis of Roxboro; close friend and cousin, Gretchen Briggs of Graham; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Mooneyham; four brothers, Henry Cecil Cook, Weldon Cook Jr., Earl Cook and Norman Luther “Red” Cook; and a sister, Maude Phillips.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich &Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
