BURLINGTON — Charlie Roger Humphries, age 78, of 3164 Rae Drive, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at the Hospice Home.
AnativeofRandolphCounty, he was the husband of Katie Holyfield Humphries and son of the late Charlie Cooper and Nora Layne Humphries and stepmother, Clyde Cockerham Humphries. Roger was a retired employee of GE, a volunteer with Hospice and a member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church where he served as usher for 29 years. He enjoyed his garden and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Holyfield Humphries of the home; son, Michael Roger “Mike” Humphries and wife Janie of Liberty; two grandchildren, Courtney Gerringer and husband Eric of Whitsett and Kelly Martin and husband Chuck of Pleasant Garden; two great-grandchildren, Adam and Katlynn Gerringer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother and twin brother, Joseph Ralph Humphries.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Shields. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell; 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
