Annie Doris Rice Franklin
SWEPSONVILLE- Mrs. Annie Doris Rice Franklin, 90 of Swepsonville, NC passed away on Sunday November 14, 2020 at the Hospice Home of Burlington.
A native of Alamance Co. NC she was the daughter of the late William Taft and Annie Bell Ball Rice.
Her family was her life and the reason she loved so much. She was known for her selflessness and her ability to always put their needs above her own. Over the years everyone knew her as “Mrs. Doris” with her numerous years working with children at MaMa Smurf’s, Alexander Wilson after School program, as well as Swepsonville Baptist Church. She and her late husband enjoyed trips together and spent a many weekend at White Lake with family and friends. Throughout her years nothing put a smile on her face like her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all of the other children she helped raise.
Survivors include her children, Brenda A. James and husband Richard, James H. Franklin Jr., Woody Daniel Franklin Sr. and wife Lee Ann, Gary Wayne Franklin and wife Linda, ,and Michael Darrell Franklin and wife Tracey; her brother to whom she was a second mother, William Donald Rice and wife Pricilla and her loving 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, James son Ricky Henry . Franklin Franklin Sr.; , brother, Bobby Rice; sisters, Gearline Paulette, Morine Mills and Jean Fox; grandson, James Robert “Robbie” Franklin and a great grandson, TJ Rhodes.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday November 18, 2020 at Graham Memorial Park with Mr. Clifton Fox officiating.
There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Alamance/Caswell at 918 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215 or to the St. Jude’s Research Children’s Hospital by visiting www.stjude.org.
