Mrs. Annie Bell Ball Rice 


    MEBANE — Mrs. Annie Bell Ball Rice , 97, of 303 Wilba Road, died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at her residence after 11 months of failing health.
    A native of Duplin County, she was the wife of the late William T. "Bill" Rice  and the daughter of the late Louis Quincey Ball  and Mary Etta Rouse Ball . She was a homemaker and loved cooking coconut cakes and working in her flowers. She was of the Baptist faith.
    Survivors include daughters, Doris R. Franklin of Swepsonville, Jean Fox and husband, Morris, and Morine Mills and husband, Ralph, all of Mebane; sons, Bobby Rice  and wife, Jo, and Donald Rice  and wife, Priscilla, all of Mebane; 25 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 24 greatgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by an infant son; a daughter Gearline Paulette; a grandson, Ricky Franklin; two greatgrandchildren; one greatgreat-grandson; a sister; and a brother.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2008 at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane by the Rev. Ray Teague and the Rev. James L. Rosser. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, and at other times they will be at the residence.
    The family would like to thank the Hospice staff and friends for their compassion and kindness in helping our family care for our mother in her home.
