Hugh McAdams Holt
BURLINGTON — Mr. Hugh McAdams Holt, 97, formerly of 1906 Maple Avenue, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 10:45 a.m. at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where he was a Lay Person of the Year, sat on the finance committee, United Methodist Men’s Treasurer, choir member, and was in the Lou NicksSundaySchoolclass. Retired from Alley and Rader, he was an avid woodworker, building all of his children a grandfather’s clock, which he did so well and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all.
Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Holt Cross and husband Joseph Jr., of Winston-Salem; son, Hugh Milton Holt and wife Frances, of Williamsburg, Va.; grandchildren, Scott Cross and wife Rocelle, of Winston-Salem, Kathrine Holt of Virginia and Darlynn McCarter of Wake Forest, N.C.; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Heath of Mebane and Eula Mae Braxton of Graham; brother, Harvey Holt of Graham; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Cable Holt; parents, Lemuel R. and Mary Bell McAdams Holt; daughter, Peggy Holt McCarter; and sister, Mary Holt.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church by the Rev. J. Neal Salter Jr. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
