Lawrence Milton Trent, 83, of 2538 Pitt Rd, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, following several years of failing health and three weeks critical. He was the husband of Mabel Gann Trent and the son of the late Charles David Trent, Sr. and the late Lettie Mae Bailey Trent.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a native of Rockingham County, a US Navy veteran of WW II, and retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years of service. Lawrence raised his family in church. He served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School and was a very active member of Burlington Assembly of God and Pleasant View Assembly of God.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Mabel, a son, Joseph “Joe” Trent and his wife Iris of Elon, daughters, Sharon Simmons and her husband Marvin of Greensboro, Janice Trent of Boone, Amy Trent of Elon, a sister Annie Miller of Springfield, OH, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant View Assembly of God by the Rev. Gary Loftis, and the Rev. Howard Thompson. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., and at other times at the home of a sister-inlaw, Shirley Apple, 1721 Springhill Drive, Burlington.
