Mabel Gann Trent
ELON — Mabel Gann Trent, 87, went peacefully to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was married to the late Lawrence Milton Trent for 61 years before his death in 2006. She was born Sept. 10, 1926 in Martinsville, Va. to the late Thomas Franklin and Maxie Hawkins Gann.
Mabel had retired from Lucent, after many years of service, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a member of Pleasant View Assembly of God and had been a member of Burlington Assembly of God. Mabel had served as the Secretary of the Sunday School and taught Sunday School.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon (Marvin) Simmons of Greensboro, Janice Trent of Gibsonville and Amy Trent of Lexington, N.C.; son, Joseph “Joe” (Iris) Trent of Elon; sister, Shirley (George) Apple of Burlington; and a brother, Leo Gann of Burlington; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a sister-inlaw, Dorothy Barts Gann.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Gary Loftis. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. and at other times at Joe Trent’s home, 1133 NC 87 North, Elon.
