Mrs. Barbara Jeannette Howerton Dunn
GIBSONVILLE — Mrs. Barbara Jeannette Howerton Dunn, 61, of 613 Springwood Ave., passed away Thursday, June 26, 2003 at 3:31am at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, due to complications following cancer surgery.
She was a lifetime resident of Guilford County and the Gibsonville area. She attended Altamahaw Ossipee Elementary School and was a past graduate of Gibsonville High School, where she was an honor student and member of numerous clubs and activities. Mrs. Dunn retired as a Bankruptcy Specialist in the Greensboro office with the IRS after 23 years of service. She also was an instructor for other Bankruptcy Specialists. Mrs. Dunn was a member of the National Task Force for developing Bankruptcy procedures, a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and an avid gardner. She is survived by her husband of the home, James Edward “Jim” Dunn of 43 years; son, Jason Dunn of Cary; parents, William and Frances Stallins Howerton of Gibsonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron and Georgette Howerton of Greensboro, Bill K. and Wadeene Howerton of Gibsonville and Jimmy D. Howerton of Burlington. The memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday at Friedens Lutheran Church by Rev. Kristina N. Johnson.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service and at other times the family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to any local chapter of The American Cancer Society, Friedens Lutheran Church, 6001 N.C. 61 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249 or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to express their appreciation to many groups of people, co-workers, Friedens Lutheran Church, churches of the Gibsonville community, the entire community of Gibsonville and surrounding areas.
