Thomas Russell "Tommy" Patterson 


    BURLINGTON — Thomas Russell "Tommy" Patterson , 65, of Stoney Creek Church Road, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at UNC Hospitals after two years failing health and a two week critical illness. He was born in Alamance County to the late Sam Holt Patterson  and the late Nannie Lou Thomasson Patterson . Tommy  was married for 44 years to Nancy Ellington Patterson , who survives. He was a farmer who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. Tommy  retired from Alamance Oil as office manager, was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church, Elks Lodge, Burlington Moose Lodge and A-O Civitan Club where he served as past president and was honored this year as Civitan of the Year.
    He is survived by his wife of the home, sons and daughtersin-law, Rusty and Kim Patterson , Rick and Kathie Patterson , both of Burlington; grandchildren, Cole and Samuel and a sister, Gayle P. Efird of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lacala P. Oakes and a brother, Leighton H. Patterson .
    The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Dave Gilbert and Rev. Matt Smith with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his son, Rusty. Memorials may be made to The Boys and Girls Home of N.C., P.O.
