Obituary Online notes for Nancy Irene ELLINGTON
Nancy Ellington Patterson passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Hospice Home after six months of failing health. She was born in Vance County to the late Charles Perry Ellington, Sr. and Gertrude Paschall Ellington and was the wife to the late Thomas Russell "Tommy" Patterson who died in 2006.
Nancy retired after 35 years as a high school PE/health teacher and coach. She was an Elon College graduate, a member of the Elks Lodge, Burlington Moose Lodge, A.O. Civitans and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include her sons, Rusty Patterson and wife, Kim, and Rick Patterson; grandsons, Cole, Samuel and Chase Patterson; sisters-in-law, Rebecca B. Ellington, Gayle P. Efird and Joyce Patterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Charles P. Ellington, Jr.
The celebration of life service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Bethlehem Christian Church by Rev. Powell Sykes. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the son, Rick Patterson's home. The family will have a private graveside service in the church cemetery.
