Robert William Moore
November 15, 1921 ~ October 21, 2016 (age 94) 94 Years Old
Mr. Robert William Moore, 94, of Gibsonville, passed away October 21, 2016, at Liberty Commons of Alamance County.
Funeral services will be 3:30pm on Tuesday at George Brothers Funeral Service with Pastor Larry Andrews and Pastor Tyler Moore officiating. The burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Robert was born November 15, 1921, in Rockingham County to the late William and Lizzie Moore. He was of the Baptist faith and was a United States Army veteran honorably serving in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazelene Andrews Moore and four brothers, two sisters, one son-in-law, one step son, and one grandson.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Denise Loye (Jerry) of Burlington, Dawn Bailey of Fairmont, NC; special step daughters, Carolyn Simpson (Lee) of McLeansville, Frances Stevens (Jerry) of Conway, SC and Brenda Scarborough of Reidsville; three grandchildren, Ashley Bason (Matt) of Burlington and Brian and Matthew Bailey of Fairmont; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren including Dallas and Chandler Bason and Natalie Butler; three great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his beloved cat, Miss Kitty.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 - 3:30pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alamance-Caswell Hospice and Palliative Care or to the Alamance County Humane Society.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Lori Collins for being Robert’s caregiver during this last month. [662]

Joy Payne Walker
Joy Ellen Payne Walker, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 26, 1934 in Alamance County to the late George Anderson Payne and Ava Vestal Payne, and was the wife to the late Anderson Boyd Walker who died in 2016.
Joy retired from Carolina Biological with over 20 years of service. After retirement she worked at Goody’s Department Store in the mall, then TJ Maxx until 2017. She was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church and most recently attended Altamahaw Baptist Church. She was previously a member of the A.O. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, working in her flowers, and loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered as Nannie to all her grandchildren and their friends. Joy was one to never leave the house without her lipstick on.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Moore Loye and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Ashley Loye Bason and husband Matt, Brian Bailey (Sophia), Matthew Bailey (Megan); great grandchildren, Dallas and Chandler Bason, Natalie Butler, Paityne and Ashten Callahan; a special niece, Elizabeth Isley Murray (Andy Oliver); a great nephew, Jeremy Murray (Abby), several cousins and special friends.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter, Ava Dawn Moore Bailey and a sister, Myrtle Payne Isley.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Bellemont United Methodist Church by Rev. Farron Duncan with the burial to follow at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30pm to 1:45pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the granddaughter, Ashley’s home in Burlington.
The family would like to express their gratitude to AuthoraCare nurses and staff, the staff at the ARMC Cancer Center, and Dr. Sallie Patel at the Charles Drew Center for their compassion and loving care that was shown to Joy during her illness.
