Joyce Junior Busick Joyce Junior Busick, 91, known by most as “Junior (aka “Jr.”)”, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 21st, 2026 at his home.
A native of Guilford County, Junior was born March 29th, 1935 to the late Joyce Jefferson Busick, Sr. and Lillie Cook Busick.
In his high school years, Junior met and married the love of his life. He was the husband of 70 years to the late Shirley Elizabeth Stanley Busick.
Junior was a simple man, yet it sustained him through many years as a farmer in the Busick community. Junior was a man of deep faith in Jesus Christ, and that faith gave him a solid and firm foundation, both physically and spiritually in life. Junior was a long-time member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church in Gibsonville, NC. He loved his family and enjoyed being around them and planting seeds of life that they will remember all their lives.
After his wife, Shirley, passed away, Junior was fortunate enough to have his children look after his needs. They include his sons: Mitchell Dean Busick, Sr. and his wife, Mendi, of Archdale, NC and Michael Wayne Busick and his wife, Linda, of Gibsonville, NC; his daughters: Pamela Jane Yount and her husband, Danny, of Granite Falls, NC and Melinda Joyce Allison and her husband, Les, of McLeansville, NC. Junior is survived also by his grandchildren: Alisha Jones, Jennifer Shelton, Katherine Allison, Crystal Busick, Jason Yount and Michael Busick, Jr.; and many great-grandchildren. Junior is also survived by a sister, Regina Johnson of Browns Summit, NC.
Along with his parents and wife, Junior was proceeded in death by his older brother, Glenn Thomas Busick, his twin brother, James Jefferson Busick and a grandson, Mitchell Dean Busick, Jr.
On Saturday, April 25th, 2026, the family will receive friends prior to the funeral service, from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm at the church. The main “celebration of life” service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Apples Chapel Christian Church in Gibsonville, NC. The services will be officiated by Reverend Dave Johnson and Reverend Allen Myers. There will also be a graveside service to follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Apples Chapel Christian Church in Gibsonville, NC at 7345 NC 61 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249.

Shirley left her earthly home on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024 to meet friends and family in her new, heavenly home.
Shirley was born on September 2nd, 1937, to David D. and Myrtle (Page) Stanley, farmers in Caswell County.
As one of ten children she grew up in a Christian home during the “Great Depression”. As a teenager growing up on a farm, Shirley learned character and a “hard work” ethic. Somewhere around her 15th year, one morning, Shirley stepped onto a school bus to meet a young man, the bus driver, also a student, named Joyce Busick. It was pretty much love at first sight. Joyce would save the seat right behind the bus driver’s seat for Shirley every day. Joyce (aka Junior) proclaims to this day that after his first look at Shirley, he never looked at another woman.
They settled in Browns Summit, NC in the 1950’s, where they raised four children and spent 70 wonderful years together. Shirley enjoyed reading, working in the garden, making Brunswick stews, playing Phase 10 cards and watching hummingbirds. She was a die-hard Tarheels fan and an avid watcher of the Atlanta Braves.
Shirley is preceded in death by both parents; four sisters, Irene, Elsie, Gladys and Mary; and three brothers, Otis, David Jr. and Ralph.
She is survived by her husband, Joyce (Jr.) Busick.; four children: Pamela Yount and husband Danny, Melinda Allison and husband Les, Mitch Busick and wife Mendi, Michael Busick and wife Linda; along with two sisters, Lilly Bell Murphy and Rachel Matthews. Shirley will be missed by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. The grandchildren are: Jason, Alisha, Jennifer, Katherine, Crystal, Michael and Little Mitch. The great-grandchildren are: Dakota, Zoey, Boston, Stephen, Ellie, Ben, Matt, J.J., Joey, Jaxon, Cadence, Victoria, Ava and Spencer.
Friends and family will gather to pay their respects and meet the family from 11AM to 11:50AM, Saturday, August 31st at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church, 7345 Hwy 61, Gibsonville, N.C. with the Memorial service to follow at 12 PM.
A committal service will immediately follow at the church cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made in honor of Shirley to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital. [6861]
