Jules Archie Setzer
GIBSONVILLE — Jules Archie Setzer, age 82, of 5728 N.C. Hwy. 87 North, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Hospice Home.
A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Julius Melton and Willie Maude Crisco Setzer and husband of the late Blanche Lovelace Setzer. He was retired from P. Lorillard Corp., an Army veteran of World War II, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and helped establish Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Glenda Conklin of Burlington; son, Terry Neal Setzer and wife Janet L. Setzer of Arapahoe; one grandchild, Michael Dylan Setzer; two great-grandchildren, Jeron Setzer and Bailee Setzer; sisters, Nora Mae Harvey and Cathleen Baker, both of Burlington, and Jean Lattimer of Spartanburg, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Leon Setzer; and siblings, Lonnie Setzer, Fred Setzer, Mozelle Whitten and Mildred Belangia.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday,
June 9, 2010 at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Hobbs, pastor. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. Setzer will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
