Cleo Rudd Johnson Thompson
BURLINGTON — Cleo Rudd Johnson Thompson, 97, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Robert Curtis Johnson Sr. and the late Grover Thompson.
Cleo was the oldest living member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Guiding Light Quartet sharing her faith in song throughout the community. Cleo was a loving and devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Rich and Janice Johnson and husband David, all of Burlington; son, Robert “Robbie” Curtis Johnson Jr. and wife Carolyn Marie Evans Johnson of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents, John Thomas Rudd and Eudora Frances Minor Rudd; great-grandson, Presley Allen Small; son-in-law, the Rev. Max W. Rich; daughters, Judy Mae Oakley and husband Ray and Cynthia Dawn Shields; and 11 siblings.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church by Pastor Norman Fargis. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home.
