Mr. Gaston “G.S.” Solomon Baldwin Jr.
BURLINGTON — Mr. Gaston “G.S.” Baldwin Jr., 70, of 428 Hyde Street, died the morning of Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Alamance Regional Medical Center, after three years of failing health.
He is the husband of Mrs. Peggy Burke Baldwin, who survives, and the son of Mr. Gaston Solomon Baldwin Sr. and Mrs. Lessie Rudd Baldwin, both deceased.
He retired from working with AT&T in the Guilford Building after 37 1/2 years. He was a charter member of St. Johns United Church of Christ and attended Brookwood Baptist Church. He served in the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Navy.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include three sons, Mr. Steven Baldwin of Davidson, Dr. Garry Baldwin of Owensboro, Ky., and Mr. Jeff Baldwin of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Felder Bradshaw of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Normal Jean Colbath of Huntsville, Ala.; a brother, Mr. Archie Baldwin of Durham; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Roy P. Taylor, pastor emeritus of Grove Park Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Garry Gates, associate pastor of Brookwood Baptist Church. The body will remain at the funeral home during the service. Entombment will be in Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at the funeral home from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Monday and at other times at the home.
