Mr. Charlie Banks Kimbro  Sr.

    BURLINGTON — Mr. Charlie Banks Kimbro  Sr., 84, of 501 N. Main St., died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after one year of declining health, two weeks critical.

    A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Mrs. Helen York Kimbro , who survives, and the son of the late Charlie  E. Kimbro  and Iris Lillian Rudd Kimbro .

He was a retired Teamster with Associated Transport and formerly worked at May Hosiery Mill. He was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church for more than 40 years and a member of the Gold Star Sunday school class. He was an avid golfer, hunter, outdoorsman, and in his younger years, he loved playing baseball.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

    Survivors other than his wife of the home include two daughters, Mrs. Patricia K. McIntyre and husband, Ray, and Ms. Glenda K. Lowe, all of Graham; two sons, Mr. C.B. Kimbro  Jr. and wife, Joan, of Elon and Mr. Mark Douglas Kimbro  and wife, Mary Ann, of Julian; a sister, Mrs. Selma Enoch of Burlington; six grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by five sisters, Edna Rudd, Mary Oakley, Savannah Oakley, Mildred Oliver, and Lillian Enoch; and four brothers, Willie Kimbro , George Kimbro , Wilson Kimbro , and Glenn Kimbro .

    The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Glen Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Larry Redding, and the Rev. Fred Treadwell. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

    The family will be at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
